Praying God's will for your life by Stormie Omartian

This book is so perfect with getting ready to start a new year as I know that my prayer life is not where it should be and this book is such an amazing book about praying in general, over ones own life and drawing closer to God which I so desperately need. I loved how deeply personal the things Stormie shared were, she really let you glimpse at her heart and where she has been and how God has changed her life. I've read other books by Stormie and really liked them and this one was every bit as good!
Drawing richly on scriptures this book is a great way to breathe new life into your prayer life which will in turn add so much more to your life. Rich in insight and wisdom this book is a great read.

Chosen People by Robert Whitlow

I have not really gotten into Robert Whitlow's books before but the premise of this one looked utterly fascinating and I do like a good legal thriller, so I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did! I really enjoyed the story line of this book as it was fascinating learning more of the inns and outs of the legal system.
This book is heartbreaking at the same time, dealing with a young women's death from terrorist attacks and her family trying to get legal justice. I loved how it brought in a wide array of characters and found the character of Hanna to be utterly fascinating ,especially seeing how she was often prejudged because of being an Arab although she was a Christian.
This book has so many twist and turns, just when you think you figure it out you are taken in another direction which I absolutely loved!
Well written and engaging this book was not an easy read but was worth the effort!

Love like that by Dr. Les Parrott

For anyone who struggles with how to love like Christ did this is the book for you. I know  I have realized that as much as I long to reach out and show Christ to others that I am seriously lacking in the love area. With keen insight and honesty this book is such a candid view at how to love more like Jesus. Broken down into 5 chapters this book focuses on Mindful, Approachable, Grace-full, Bold and Self giving all of which I really enjoyed and found in myself realizing how much I am lacking in all 5 of those areas.
I find Dr. Parrott's writing to always be very refreshing and encouraging,as with his marriage books he doesn't pretend that he has all of the answers but shares his struggle and his victories as well.
Well written and very easy to read this book is wonderful.

The End times Survival guide by Mark Hitchcock

What a fascinating and insightful book for surviving these very uncertain times. Backed full with biblical principals this book gives one a ton to think and ponder about long after the final page is turned. The 10 chapters in this book are all so very insightful and thought provoking but my favorite chapters was the one about tuning into the heaven's frequency which is an amazing reminder that we need to be keeping our focus on the Lord during these increasingly difficult time.
This book is easy to read and so very good,I highly recommend it.

You are by Emily Assell

I was utterly delighted with this book, though it is not very big it packs so much wisdom and depth in its few short pages and this is the kind of book I think would be beneficial to read to ones child daily, especially as too often we leave these things unsaid and get wrapped up in the daily activities.
I love how this book speaks words of affirmation to your children and then brings in a beautiful Bible verse to pack it up that are  short and to the point, I know they would make awesome memory verses for kids to memorize!
The illustrations are simply fantastic too, the perfect addition to this gorgeous book, the illustrations alone are enough to make it endearing and then the content, well it is an absolute winner!

How do you say good night? by Catalina Echeverri

I have read a lot of children's book, goodness that is about all I read as my 3 year old adores being read to and when I say that this book is one of the best ones I have ever read for night time, I mean it. Not only is the content absolutely amazing, I love how it rhythms and flows so well, very clever and well written, not to mention you are able to expose the littles to how a group of lions is a pride of lions, etc I know didn't read about that stuff till I was much older so how great to expose them to it when they are little!
I also adore how this book is all about the Lord and His blessings, perfect to keep in mind always! I think it will direct discussions and help little ones count their own blessings.
The illustrations are utterly charming too, whimsical and yet realistic enough too.
If you are looking for a wonderful book to add to your nightly routine I highly recommend this book

Becoming Gertrude by Janice Peterson

This little gem of a book is about the beauty of godly friendship and tips for how to cultivate that in your own life. I feel like this book is absolutely perfect for the season of life I am in right now, as I realize that deep friendships truly are worth gold and a word fitly spoken is priceless.
Drawing from her own life and the life of those around her I love how the author draws you in and gives sage advice, it really feels like you are sitting across from her drinking tea!
Small in pages but mighty in message this book is well written and utterly engaging. I could hardly put it down and felt encouraged and uplifted, ready to reach my hand out to those around me and be that friend I am called to be.

Dinosaur devotions bu Michelle Medlock Adams

If you have a dinosaur lover in your house than you need to buy this book, even if your kids aren't that into dinosaurs (it will come with time, believe me!) I recommend this book.
My 3 year old LOVES dinosaur and this book is fascinating for both of us! Admittedly a bit of it over her head but I am amazed how despite the content and depth she is more than happy to listen to me read it to her and it brings up some great conversations.
It is so rare to find a dinosaur book that has a Christian spin so that is what absolutely thrills me about this book, learning about dinosaurs and incorporating Christ? This book is a dream!
I cannot recommend it enough as it will certain enchant and fascinate your young reader, regardless of the age!

My Christmas ABCs by Jordan Wray

I love, love, love this new book where one can go over the ABC's with a Christmas theme! My 3 year old and I are working hard on learning the alphabet so this book is really just too perfect.
Filled with whimsical illustrations that are sure to enthrall and delight this book is just utterly charming. I cannot think of a more festive book all while being educational! I call that win-win!
One of my favorite things about it is that it does not mention Santa Clause, do you know how impossible it is to find a Christmas book without Santa in it? Whether or not you plan on doing Santa I think it is perfect that this book focuses on more Christian themes of Christmas.
I can't think of a better book to add to ones Christmas book collection!

Jesus Calling: The Story of Christmas by Sarah Young

What an utterly fantastic book to help center ones thoughts on the true meaning of Christmas. I have found it is easy to get involved in all of the holiday's festivities that it is easy to lose sight of what the true meaning of Christmas is so this book is absolutely perfect, not only is it a good rendition of Christ birth but I truly feel it takes the Christmas story even deeper and adds additional information that is usually glossed over.
The illustrations are so beautiful and visually appealing to both old and young, utterly charming it makes me want to frame them!
I love how it incorporates Bible verses on each page and has a little "Jesus Calling" section on each page as well.
This is simply a must have book for the upcoming holiday season!

The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel and mark Mittelberg

I am a huge fan of Lee Strobel's works and have been trying to work through some of his books here lately, but being a busy Mom of two young children it can be hard to find time to read, so I was utterly delighted to receive this devotional that is broken down into a much more manageable format of small two pages that even I can fit into my busy day. I feel like though the pages are not very long the content is still very good and I feel like it is great way to start out my day and get me thinking about deeper things.
I feel like especially as a Mother I need to be studying and researching my faith more, too often as Christians we just blindly follow and don't realize that there is so much evidence for Christ. I think it is vitally important to know some of the evidence so when our children are presented with alternative viewpoints we can thoughtfully and intellectually discuss it with them and help them understand that while faith is a very important aspect of our walk we also have evidence for Christ and it does not all have to be taken on faith.
Insightful and engaging this book would make an excellent addition to anyone's bookshelf or it would be a fabulous gift for anyone in your life. I cannot recommend it enough!

Cozy, Snowy Cuddles

I am absolutely in love with this charming book that arrived just in time for winter! This book is so perfect for the coming of winter and is utterly delightful both in illustration and text.
I love how this book appealed equally to both my 3 year old and my 8 month old. My 3 year old was delighted by the narwhal on the first page (they aren't featured in books near enough!) and 8 month old loved the touch and feel aspect.
I loved how the story flowed and how sweet, simple and yet wonderful the content was, even my husband didn't mind reading it and he is a hard critic of children's books.
If you are looking for the perfect book to kick of the chilly season than I highly recommend this book.

Prayers for the Battlefield by Heidi St. John

For any fan of Heidi St. John this book is a  must read, small in pages but powerful in insight this book is not only a gorgeous looking book but is filled to the brim with keen insight and deep wisdom. I fell in love with Heidi's writing with her book Mom Strong and this book only furthered my love for her. This book is much needed for the battle weary Mom as it redirects ones focus and is a keen reminder that we are preparing our children for battle and how very, very important that is.
I am absolutely in love with the fact that the book is written devotional style with little snippet you can start your day off with that are not overwhelming but are very thought provoking and deep.
I cannot recommend this book enough, if you are raising the next generation then this book is for you.

The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible by Doris Rikkers

The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible brings to life more than 40 Bible stories that help readers understand that God’s Spirit has been with us since the beginning of time and continues to be with us today. From the glory of creation through the powerful letters of Paul, God’s Spirit is living in his people. Old and New Testament stories such as Adam and Eve, Abraham, Joseph, the Baptism of Jesus, and Pentecost come alive with dramatic illustrations by Fernando Juarez and moving text by Doris Rikkers. With a cover that sparkles and shines with foil, this is a special storybook Bible that will appeal to both children and parents alike.
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
If I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.
Psalm 139: 7–10

My thoughts: I absolutely loved this gem of a book with such engaging illustrations and well written. I cannot even imagine trying to narrow down the Bible to 40 stories but they did a great job at it and made a book that really does appeal to both old and young alike. A great way to engage young ones in the word of God this book is a great introduction and can help stimulate so many thought provoking discussions. I think this book makes a wonderful addition to anyone's  library.

Called to Protect by Lynette Eason

From the Queen of Christian suspense this book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end! Drawing to light some very serious issues, like human trafficking this book is unsettling at times, but very captivating as well.
Chloe St. John is a force to be reckoned with, when her heart is broken by her fiance she vows to stay focused on her work, good thing too because she lands a huge case that involves human trafficking and it just might shed light on her missing cousin.  As her life becomes intertwined with Blake, whose daughter is missing, they form an undeniable attraction, but as they fight to say the lives of those they love will they be able to survive?
Filled with heart racing suspense, a great romance and wonderful characters this is a great read that I highly recommend!

A rumored fortune by Joanna Davidson Politano

If you are looking for books with an intriguing plot, riveting characters and rich historical detail than look no further. This is the second book by Joanna Politano and like the first one it certainly did not disappoint. Her writing is reminiscent of Charles Dickens in plot (certainly much easier to read and no near as wordy!). This book is about the poorest rich heiress, Tressa who has always craved her Father's love and  affection but when he mysteriously disappears and is presumed dead she find that his fortune is no where to be found, thus ensues a delicious romp in Victorian England where people are not whom they seem and where love for Tressa might come from the most unexpected place.
Filled with a great story line, memorable characters and page turning intrigue this book is an excellent read.

It's all under control by Jennifer Duke Lee

For those of us who like to believe that we can have everything under control and going our way this book is a great reminder the path of control is not one we are meant to be traveling and it often leaves us feeling overwhelmed and downtrodden because it was never ours burden to carry.
This book is amazing and insightful, so encouraging to think we don't have to be perfect and we shouldn't be feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. I particularly found the chapters on prioritizing and letting go to be very beneficial and insightful, I know too often you can be so busy doing too much that isn't super important.
Filled with keen insight and wit this book is a must read for anyone who feels like they have to do it all and fail miserably.

Darkwater Secrets by Robin Caroll

This was such a good book and such a promising start to what I hope to be an amazing series. Filled with just enough mystery, intrigue and romance this book is sure to hook you from the very first. I have never been to New Orleans but the book seems to capture a lot of the rich history and troubling past. Filled with some fabulous characters as well as some incredibly awful characters (she does villains very well!) this book is a quick read that is hard to put down.
I enjoyed the character of Adelaide and cannot wait to see where the next books take her and who she ends up with, I know who I am rooting for but I have no inclination where the author will take her in the romance department.
If you like a smart romance with likable characters and a rich complex background than this book is for you! There wasn't a huge mystery per se and it isn't too hard to figure out but this book has a lot going on so it certainly does not disappoint!

It's momplicated by Debbie Alsdorf and Joan Kay

This book is such an awesome book, for women who want to try to understand their own relationship with their Mother's to Mother's who want to nurture their own relationship with their daughter  I cannot recommend this book enough!
I have a great relationship with my Mom and so blessed to have her, this book made me realize all the more how incredibly blessed I really am and yet I still felt like this book applied to me. I can see how things my Mom did or said have very much shaped me into who I am today and how the things I say and do (or don't do) for my daughter will have a major impact on her life.
This book is such a great reminder that there is healing and hope for any relationship and I don't say that lightly because I know there are some terrible Mother's out there and one of the authors had a pretty bad one but it was beautiful to see some of the healing that was brought to them in later years .I loved the reminder that I need to be more intentional in my parenting and that many of our decisions and what we do deeply impacts our children.
Well written and very thought provoking this book will get you thinking and want to improve one of the strongest bonds you will ever have, that of the relationship with your Mother.

The Edge of Over There by Shawn Smucker

This is the amazing sequel to the riveting book "The Day the Angel Fell", if you are looking for a Christian novel that is not run of the mill then you will want to check this out!
The story line is intriguing but it is the writing that makes it utterly riveting and an absolute page turner. With memorable characters and a plot that keeps you engaged until the very end, this book is so hard to put down!
There is so many different elements to this book and so much going on I don't know how to explain it, so do yourself a favor and check this book out, you won't be disappointed!

River to Redemption by Ann Gabhart

I have not read such an  interesting, thought provoking piece of fiction  in quite some time, this book truly was excellent and I loved the fact that it was loosely based on a true store. I loved how a town came together to buy the freedom of one man who risked his life and did not think of himself and took care of others. I love how this book weaves together several stories of memorable characters and is realistic in their flaws and struggles and yet it is encouraging to watch them grow and be given second chances.
I love how the author found this obscure story of human kindness and brought it to life.

The hope of Azure Springs by Roachel Fordham

I was absolutely enthralled with this book, I felt like the characters and message was refreshing and not run of the mill. I cannot say enough how much I appreciated a character who was not utterly breathtaking and who had beauty that came from within. Em was an charming and endearing character who you cannot help but grow to love and cheer on as she wins the whole town of Azure Springs over through her kindness and inner beauty. While Em doesn't get all of the happy endings one hopes for I felt like her story was more realistic to how life turns out sometimes and that made it all the better albeit sad.
Memorable characters, a wonderful heroine and a compassionate hero, the romance was charming and slow to build up which is exactly what I prefer.
I thought this was an outstanding book by a debut author, I will certainly be on the look out for more of her books in the future!

Minding the light by Suzanne Woods Fisher

This is another great, easy read by one of the most prolific Christian historical authors out there! I think this series by her is one of my favorite! Filled with endearing characters that engage and delight this book jumps between two different historical periods and it adds so much depth and layers to the whole story!
This book is about something beautiful coming out of a tragedy. When Daphne and Ren lose someone near and dear to them will something good come out of the tragedy? As they grow closer together will they be able to overcome the barriers that separate them or will their love come at too high of cost?

Engraved on the heart by Tara Johnson

What a beautiful book for any historical lovers who enjoy anything to do with the Civil War era. I loved how this book seems like your typical historical fiction and yet it dives into deeper issues as the book progresses, I thought it was interesting to read about the main characters battles with epileptic seizures and how that was viewed  by society then. Despite being a Southern belle Keziah proves she is so much more than her family's expectation to marry well. When she is reintroduced to her childhood friend, Micah, her life sets on a path quite unlike she ever expected.
Filled with lush details and an engaging story this book is a must read! I know I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

100 Bible Stories for Children

This book is an absolutely wonderful introduction to the Bible for young ones, highlighting 100 of the most famous stories from the Bible that have gorgeous illustrations to enthrall and engage little ones. I know my 3 year old really enjoyed the stories and the illustrations, she was particularly thrilled to see so many stories about Jesus life in here as those are her absolute favorite. I am always eager to get copies of Bible stories and see how the pass muster with my little one and this one certainly did! She goes for it all the time and I feel it is a good way for her to familiarize herself with the scriptures at a young age.

The Life Giving Parent by Clay and Sally Clarkson

I think most Christian parents have heard of Sally Clarkson and her books as they come highly recommend and are filled with wonderful, Christ centered Biblical insight.  So when I got the chance to grab their newest book I was eager and it did not disappoint!
Filled with sage advice this book really helps breathe life into ones mission as a parent reminding one how sacred and important being a parent truly is. I love how this book was not just geared towards Mother's like so many books out there but is for both parent's. I also appreciate how this book is not a one size fits all for children but readily acknowledges that each child is different as well the authors understand!
This book is a great resource that you will find yourself coming back to time and again especially as you go through different seasons of parenting.

A pocketful of Hope for Mothers by Robin Jones Gunn

What a perfect book for a Mother's soul! This book is such a beautiful, colorful and encouraging book filled with perfect little snippets that a Mom can quickly read to encourage and inspire. I know I found this book to be so encouraging and uplifting, filled with insightful quotes and wonderful tidbits that stay with you long after you put it down.
It is so easy to get overwhelmed and trodden down with being a Mom and this book is there to help uplift and encourage and it really does that in such a simple and beautiful way.
The illustrations are cheerful and uplifting and the words are profound, this book would make a beautiful gift to encourage and uplift one of the Mother's in your life.

But heart-fluttering, long-lasting love is all around us…we just have to look for it!
This collection of beautiful, real-life accounts will bring laughter and tears as you enjoy each story of ordinary people who found extraordinary love. Page after page, you will find inspiration to
—rekindle the romance in your love story
—trust in God’s providence and timing
—faithfully hope for your own happily-ever-after
—celebrate true romance
—believe in life-long love
Don’t let the world define romance for you! See how God is at work in the hearts of His people—knitting together hearts in a love that forever endures.
My opinion: What a fabulous collection of real life romances! This book was so much fun to read as you read about real couples who have gone through so much and have prevailed and kept their romance alive and survived in a world riddled with divorce. I loved how this book had stories of couples from all different stages of life and circumstances, the stories really resonated with me and inspired me to think about my own marriage and how I can strive to always put God first. Engaging and encouraging this book is an excellent read.I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Resurrecting religion by Greg Paul

A deeply moving, thought provoking book that stays with you long after the final page is turned.  This book is about not just saying we are the church but actually being the church. Drawing heavily on the book of James and the experiences of the authors church in Toronto this book is all about being the hands and feet of Christ in the way we were meant to. Emphasizing heavily that we need to be helping other especially the poor and that faith without works is dead. Deeply moving and  based soundly in the scriptures this book is a call to do more and to be more to a world that deeply distrust and misunderstands religion because of our botched attempts at living it out.
Well written and very engaging this book is a cry to do more and I highly recommend it.

How to break up with your phone by Catherine Price

This book is exactly what I needed to read. Like most people I know I spend way too much time on my phone, I know it is a problem but I didn't know what to do about it, but this book not only gave practical ways to break up with ones phone and also show you just how enslaved we really are to our phones.
Written in an engaging and insightful manner this book is a little gem, it doesn't take much to read but what you will read can really impact your life, if you are willing to take a step back from your phone.
I know this book spoke to me and reminded me of what is really important in life, especially as a Mom to 2 young children, time is fleeting and I know I have wasted too much of it already.
Written in two parts, the first showing what our phones are turning us into and then ways to get control of it this book is an easy read but full of great insight.

Enter the Ring by D.A. and Elicia Horton

If you think this book is just like any other marriage book out there then you are wrong. This book is so down to earth and gritty, not throwing any punches and is exactly what you would expect from reading the back. I loved how honest and forthright the authors were about their own marriage and the struggles they have gone through and they ways they were able to overcome. I love how they point out if God could save their marriage He can save anyone's, they do not try to act like they are superior and never struggled but instead show a lot of humility and truthfulness that is refreshing and you can totally relate to.
Covering topics like finances, money, intimacy and communication this is a great book that encourages and inspires one to get back in the rink and keep fighting for what is important.

Finding your brave by Holly Wagner

What an utterly delightful book filled with so much wisdom and insight. I think most of have come to a time in our lives where we are overwhelmed and life really seems to be getting the best of us and this book is great at addressing those times and how we need to turn towards God and focus on Him. A great reminder to find ones courage and brave during the most challenging times of life when we feel the least brave and courageous.I loved how the author wrote from personal experience as well as drawing heavily on the Bible all for a very encouraging, engaging read.
